Coming to Arizona Illustrated: Monday: Kimberly Craft reports that the University of Arizona is taking steps to reduce its environmental impact, including buying a new fleet of vehicles. UA President Dr. Robert Shelton talks to Bill Buckmaster about the possibility of more state budget cuts. Tony Paniagua tells us how one of Southern Arizona’s service clubs is helping local non-profits. Luis Carrion takes on a visit to Organ Pipe National Monument.
Tuesday: We continue our series on national health care overhaul with a segment by Christopher Conover on the implication for alternative medicine. Host Bill Buckmaster speaks with Chris O’Dell, who worked as a tour manager for some of the most influential musicians during rock’s golden years. Pam White takes us on a tour of the UA’s tree ring laboratory.
Wednesday: We’ll have results from Tucson’s city elections and speak with some of the winners and losers. Bill Buckmaster will speak with Richard Elias, Chairman of the Pima County Board of Supervisors about the city elections and other news. We’ll have a commentary from Jim Nintzel of the Tucson Weekly and Sooyeon Lee will introduce us to Ray Harm, a well known wildlife artist.
Thursday: Luis Carrion reports on the hardships and rugged terrain facing immigrants who choose to illegally cross the Mexican border into the United States. Local journalists will dissect the election results and Tony Paniagua reports on one of the nation's largest Italian language programs which is based at the U of A.
Friday: Our newsmakers guests this week are Tucson Fire Chief Patrick Kelly and Tucson Police Chief Roberto Villasenor. Bill Buckmaster will be joined by Jim Nintzel of the Tucson Weekly and Ann Brown of the Arizona Daily Star.
