Millions of people around the world are trying to eat better and reduce their impact on the environment by buying locally grown, organic foods that don't require huge amounts of energy to ship great distances, pesticides, herbicides and other methods that can impact natural cycles.

Today we begin with the first a two-part special about alternative ways of acquiring and consuming foods. We begin with CSA - Community Supported Agriculture in Tucson. The group was founded in 2004 based on other examples around the world and it has already reached its maximum capacity of 400 members.

Tuesday night we meet a "food activist" who raises chickens in her Tucson backyard, grows much of her own food, and wants to educate people about the importance of being more aware of their diets and the impacts they can have on communities and the natural world.
