IN THE LIFE remains one of the few nationally broadcast series to present the art, culture, issues and news of the gay and lesbian community. It continues to provide public television viewers with a clear, non-sensational look at the realities of being gay or lesbian in America. The monthly newsmagazine, taped on location worldwide and hosted by an exciting array of celebrity guest hosts, serves a broad audience of gay and straight viewers. Each one-hour episode contains six to eight segments, including news and notes, youth and education, health and AIDS, arts and culture, the workplace, relationships and family, and global issues. The series was honored in 2003 with two Emmy nominations from the New York Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences.
