Thank goodness for the encore of Downton Abbey's first season--our collective memories are refreshed just in time for the new season. We have seven Sundays of period drama bliss ahead of us. Antiques Roadshow
Antiques Roadshow treats viewers to a double whammy of appraisals on Monday nights, beginning at 8 p.m. on PBS-HD 6.
January 23
Antiques Roadshow Eugene, Oregon, Hour One, highlights include a collection of signed baseball Hall of Famer Ty Cobb memorabilia dating back to the early 1950s; n original Rosemary’s Baby drawing by art designer Clem Hall; and a 1919 oil painting by Norman Rockwell.
Next, Houston, Texas, Hour One, where appraisers find a rich brew of objects, including a scrimshaw walrus tusk depicting the Almira, America's longest-working whaling ship; a collection of rare, unopened packs of Topps football cards from 1958, and a book of Mexican War battlefield illustrations.
January 30
Antiques Roadshow Eugene, Oregon, Hour Two, where antiques include a New England Chippendale chest-on-chest; an 1846 map of Western America; and an early 20th-century Russian Imperial Officer’s sword from the reign of Tsar Nicholas II.
Next, Houston, Texas, Hour Two with impressive finds that include an early 19th-century box desk made by a renowned supplier to the British royal family; a collection of lithographed orange crate labels; and a 1959 replica of artist Edith Parson's Turtle Baby bronze sculpture.
February 6
Antiques Roadshow Eugene, Oregon, Hour Three, where highlights include a playful pair of beautifully preserved tin toys; a Civil War cavalry guidon that may have been used in the Battle of Shiloh; and a 1960 jeweled gold moretto valued at $40,000 to $60,000.
Next, Houston, Texas, Hour Three where appraisers see a magical collection of Wedgwood Fairyland Lustreware; a gold charm that once belonged to Lucille Ball; and a romantic English Regency rosewood settee that makes the appraiser swoon as he declares an estimated value of $9,500.
