The Language of Movement

Barbara Mettler built the Tucson Creative Dance center in 1963 as a permanent home for her unique, movement-based approach to dance. Mettler passed away in 2002, but her legacy lives on and is still being practiced by a devout following.

Barbara Mettler built the Tucson Creative Dance center in 1963 as a permanent home for her unique, movement-based approach to dance. Mettler passed away in 2002, but her legacy lives on and is still being practiced by a devout following. In an essay titled, ‘The Language of Movement’, Mettler wrote, “There is a universal language in which all people everywhere can express themselves and understand one another. It is the language of movement.”
