On the Friday before the Tucson Festival of Books weekend, 300 teens from seven Southern Arizona high schools get the opportunity to join a select group of authors and illustrators for panel discussions and workshops about “the creative life.” They hear about how and why the authors got started and how they keep it going. It’s a rare opportunity for these students to be mentored and make personal connections with published authors and illustrators.
