Mental Health and the Pandemic
The psychological distress that the COVID-19 pandemic has engendered, is deeply bound to social isolation and economic insecurity, and has resulted in a global mental health crisis. Without stronger labor laws, social welfare programs, and better access to mental health services, experts predict a rise in stress disorders, suicide rates, and a lack of resiliency needed in order to adapt to and survive this pandemic.

Favorite Places: Armory Park
Our series featuring southern Arizonan architects speaking thoughtfully and personally about a special building, place, or space in southern Arizona continues. Architect, Valeria Moraga, says the Armory Park neighborhood is a place where “culture and history collide." Each front porch and back alley tells a unique story with a specific charm that is not overwhelming even if it looks a bit hectic.

OSIRIS-REx - “Touch-And-Go”
On October 20, southern Arizonans and the world, watched as the OSIRIS-Rex spacecraft unfurled its robotic arm and briefly touched the asteroid Bennu. Arizona Illustrated producer Bryan Nelson and Photographer/Editor Nate Huffman were there to capture a unique behind-the-scene look at every anxious and exhilarating moment that culminated with a successful capture of dust and pebbles from the surface of an ancient asteroid more than 200 million miles from Earth.
