Life on the street, without a home, can be cold, harsh, and dangerous. The St. Francis Shelter housed at Sacred Heart Parish in midtown Tucson offers hope and comfort to homeless people during the winter months. The shelter is open to all men in need, with no ID or formal prerequisites for entry. They only ask that they treat each other with respect and kindness. Doors open at 8 pm, where they offer a hot meal, a warm blanket, and a cot. They can currently accommodate up to 70 men each night. They now have plans to open a Cooling Center during the hot summer months, for men and women.
