Fadi Iskandar

The solace and soul of music.

For over eight years war has ravaged Syria. Nearly 400,000 people have been killed and 12 million forced to flee their homeland desperately seeking safety and freedom, including Fadi Iskandar and his family. By 2017, the Iskandar family had started a new life in Tucson, we shared their story on Arizona Illustrated, their agonizing decision to flee, memories of those they had to leave behind, and the solace they found in music. From our series ‘Far Afield’ this is Fadi Iskandar.
