There are many ways young people are becoming involved in science, technology, engineering and math … or STEM. One of those ways is through robotics, where local teens work together to build their own robot designed to perform an assigned task. The Vail 1828 BoxerBots robotics team based out of the Vail School District are doing just that. We tagged along with The BoxerBots during their 2016-17 competition season which came with all the ups and downs of creation and collaboration. One thing that sets this mostly male team apart from others is that three out of four of their elected officers are young women. The BoxerBots are an exceptional group of young people learning, growing and leading their way to the future.
