Episode 317: The Paths, and Barriers, to Citizenship

A green card with a price tag, an immigration law firm, and U.S.-born triplets with Mexican-born parents.

In the last decade alone, 6.5 million people have become naturalized U.S. citizens, but the path to citizenship is not always the same.

There are those who work and wait their way though the immigration process – then there are those who buy their way through. The EB-5 visa is a way for wealthy foreigners to purchase green cards, and all they need is $500,000.

On Arizona Week, we take a look at the EB-5 “investor” visa, visit a mother-son immigration law firm in Tucson and visit with U.S.-born triplets with Mexican parents. The siblings have graduated, though their parents cannot attend. And to mark Memorial Day, we recognize those who have given their lives for the country despite not being citizens.
