Fostering Hope

Up to 80 percent of children in foster care have significant mental health issues, yet less than 25 percent receive treatment.

The foster care system and its impact on youth mental health.

More than 200,000 children are removed from their homes due to abuse and neglect every year. In Arizona in the past year alone, almost 18,000 children were placed in foster care.

Not Broken, an Arizona Public Media original production, is a candid and hopeful look at the lives of seven young people facing a spectrum of mental health challenges. Watch the full documentary online.
