Catalina Highway

One of the most beautiful roads in the world is just a 30 minute drive from Tucson.

It is said you can experience a journey from Mexico to Canada by taking the Catalina Highway from Tucson to Summerhaven on top of Mt. Lemmon.

With temperatures over 115 degrees, many Tucsonans will try to beat the heat by taking a drive up Catalina Highway. One of the most beautiful roads in the world, the Catalina Highway ascends more than 6,000 vertical feet and offers temperatures an average of 30 degrees cooler than the desert below.

For those visitors looking for a deeper understanding of this iconic road, there's a wealth of history to be found.
