AZ WEEK: Preparing for Hot Senate Race in 2016

Arizona Week Friday explores a potpourri of topics, including a visit from the state's top education official, a political announcements and the upcoming wildfire season.

On the program:

  • Superintendent of Public Instruction Diane Douglas took her statewide listening tour to Tucson Thursday night and heard from more than 50 teachers, parents and community members.

  • Christopher Conover analyzes Rep. Ann Kirkpatrick's decision to take on John McCain in the 2016 race for U.S. Senate with Arizona Republic Report Rebekah Sanders.

  • High temperatures in Arizona signal the unofficial start of wildfire season. AZPM reporter Zac Ziegler learns what Arizonans can expect from fire managers.

  • Arizona Daily Star reporter Tom Beal gives an in-depth perspective on wildfire season.
