METRO WEEK: Fifth Anniversary of Jan 8 Shootings

Survivors, first responder discuss new gun purchase actions, recall how their lives changed.

President Barack Obama Tuesday announced changes to gun show background checks and funding for mental health care.

Metro Week looks at those changes in the context of the fifth anniversary of the Jan. 8, 2011 shootings in Tucson.

Host Andrea Kelly spoke with three people who were at Safeway that day about how their lives have changed in the last five years.

  • Mary Reed, survivor.
  • Kenneth Dorushka, survivor.

Also on the program: AZPM’s Christopher Conover spoke with Ken Rineer, executive director of Gun Owners of Arizona, about the president’s executive actions.
