On Jan. 25, President Donald Trump signed an executive order calling for the construction of a physical wall on the southern border, and Fronteras Desk reporter Michel Marizco marked that day with a series of images from the international boundary in Arizona.

The photos of the U.S.-Mexican border show a complex landscape characterized by a variety of barriers - with differing functions - as well as geographic and human features. The tweets allude to the challenges of an additional border wall, the effectiveness of existing barriers, and obstacles facing law enforcement agencies.
