Pascua Yaqui tribal members will soon have many of their health care services consolidated into one new 100,000-square-foot building.

Pascua Yaqui Health Services Center II will house services like the diabetes and nursing programs, pharmacy and social services, according to a press release. Patients will also have access to a variety of specialty clinics, such as gynecology, cardiology and gastroenterology.

"We expanded so fast — the tribe — that we had to take over modulars or houses in the community, so we're everywhere, and that has its pros and cons," said Raquel Aviles, the associate director of health for the tribe.

She said the new location will be across the street from the main health services building on South Camino de Oeste.

"With this building we're bringing all our programs to be a one-stop shop, so community members can just come to this building. And they can receive services and not have to drive or walk around the community," said Aviles.

The tribe wrote in the press release that the new location will save tribal members money and increase access to social and physical health services.

The tribe expects to employ 200 employees within the building, which it hopes will be completed early 2021 at the latest.

"We have been planning this new facility for several years," said Aviles. "Having a new facility to help us adapt to rapidly changing health care systems will be more efficient for our providers and more convenient for our members."
