The San Xavier Mission School suspended operations on August 12, due to a lack of enrollment according to a statement from the Diocese of Tucson.

In a statement issued by the diocese, Sheri Dahl, the Superintendent of Schools for the diocese, said enrollment was down to 45 students.

The school is next to the San Xavier del Bac Mission on the Tohono O'odham reservation.

Officials with the diocese said they plan to reorganize and reopen the school in the future. They also said they are working with parents to help the children from the school get enrolled at other places.
