PBS News Weekend

Season 3, Episode 16 of 86

On Sunday, NewsHour Weekend explores a deadly disease that has been wiping out starfish for more than a year in what biologists are calling the largest marine disease outbreak ever. While an unknown virus may be the cause behind the catastrophic loss of millions of starfish along the Pacific coast, one place that has held the disease off the longest is Alaska. As scientists scramble to find answers amid fears of extinction, researchers travel to The Last Frontier to determine whether the state will be a starfish refuge or another graveyard. That, and the weekend's news, online and on-air.
