PBS News Weekend

Season 3, Episode 21 of 86

On Saturday, NewsHour Weekend travels to Iowa to explore the widespread issue of herbicide-resistant and hard-to-control weeds. Millions of acres of farmland have been affected, rendering some fields unable to be farmed. And the problem is spreading, which could mean more lost crops and lost profits. The EPA recently approved a new Dow herbicide that the industry says could help the problem. But opponents have sued to stop it, warning it could make the weed situation even worse, and possibly harm the environment and human health. That, and the weekend's news, online and on-air.
