PBS News Weekend

Season 3, Episode 75 of 86

On Saturday, NewsHour Weekend explores the oil boom in North Dakota. Nearly a million barrels of crude oil are extracted from the ground each day in the state, and instead of pipelines, most of it is transported by rail. Now, prompted by a series of catastrophic accidents, the Department of Transportation has proposed a plan that could cost the industry $2.5 billion to phase out older cars they say are more prone to rupture. NewsHour's Stephen Fee reports.
