Arts in Context

The Influencers

Season 5, Episode 5 of 6

Few things form the expectations for a work-of-art like its branding. Album art, posters, and visual presentation can enhance, transform, or even subvert its associated work-of-art. Responsible for some of the most iconic album art in the past two decades, Chris Bilheimer has left his stamp on the world of graphic design. Having created some of the most recognizable album covers in the world for R.E.M., Green Day, and Neutral Milk Hotel, Bilheimer is now in Austin, Texas, searching for new opportunities. Michael Sieben is not only one of the world's best graphic designers but is also the managing editor of Thrasher Magazine. These two key figures of contemporary graphic design are helping to shape the future of branding.
