Sixteenth Maine at Gettysburg

Episode 1 of 1

Often described as the Civil War's turning point, the conflict took place over three days in and around the town of Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. It was the battle with the largest number of casualties in the war ultimately resulting in Union Maj. Gen. George Gordon Meade's Army of the Potomac fending off attacks by Confederate Gen. Robert E. Lee's Army of Northern Virginia, ending Lee's invasion of the North. SIXTEENTH MAINE AT GETTYSBURG celebrates the 150th Anniversary of the Battle of Gettysburg and the pivotal role that soldiers from Maine and around New England played in the battle.
