Moonbone

Inspired by Wilkie Collins' "The Moonstone"--Dallas Cowboy Daryl " Moose" Johnston's Superbowl ring is missing from an exhibit of sports memorabilia, and Wishbone is the prime suspect. Wishbone's dilemma reminds him of "The Moonstone" (considered the first detective novel), in which Franklin Blake is accused of stealing a sacred diamond and, like Wishbone, must clear himself.
