Albania is a land of contrasts and contradictions, of political strife and the deepest of family roots, of majestic mountains and beautiful beaches. It's home to a diverse people steeped in tradition and united by a common heritage and love. Today's Albania is both exotic and mysterious. Located across the Adriatic and Ionian Seas from the heel of Italy, the country is known for its prideful isolation and is tempered by two generations of Communist rule. Eliza Dushku, a well-known American actress (Buffy the Vampire Slayer) is of mixed Danish and Albanian descent, and in the past few years has become passionately interested in and connected to the country of her father's ancestors. In the documentary DEAR ALBANIA, she explores Albania's present, travels back in time to its past, and hears its hopes for the future. For Eliza and her brother, actor and producer Nate Dushku, it's a journey of cultural, historical and personal discovery.
