On the next episode of Metro Week: Monsanto reaction: Native food expert Gary Nabhan responds to Monsanto’s plans to open a greenhouse in Marana. He refutes some of the science the company cites. Sanctuary cities: Tucson is seeing a resurgence in sanctuary churches, those who are offering to shelter undocumented immigrants to prevent them from being deported. Story features Allison Harrington, reverend at Southside Presbyterian Church. Manufacturing education: A few years ago Pima Community College teamed with Tucson and Sunnyside school districts, plus manufacturing companies, to help improve training and education to prepare people to go into machining and manufacturing careers. Two students and a manufacturing company president say the program is working. Tohono O'odham rodeo: This weekend (Jan. 27-29) marks the 79th annual Tohono O’odham rodeo, parade and fair. We interview two participants who have competed in past years, too.
