Will Cyprus be reunified? The island, in the eastern part of the Mediterranean Sea, is a former British colony that gained its independence in 1960. But since the mid-1970's, it's been politically divided between its two main ethnic groups: Greeks and Turks. Now, analysts see an opportunity to settle a conflict which has at times brought two members of the NATO military alliance of Greece and Turkey to the brink of war.
