Sales Tax Overview: Tucson is asking voters whether to increase its sales tax to pay for new equipment for the police and fire departments, and for road repair. AZPM intern Brandon Mejia will set up the basics of the sales tax election, and then delve into the economic impact of the proposal to raise the sales tax in Tucson by one half cent. Sales Tax Pro/Con: Pima County Democratic Party Chairwoman Jo Holt argues in favor of raising the sales tax. Pima County Republican Party Chairman David Eppihimer (EP-ee-HI-mer) argues against raising the sales tax. Election Integrity: AZPM’s Christopher Conover discusses state and local efforts to ensure elections are fair and free of fraud. Old Courthouse: A tour through the Old Pima County Courthouse as it’ s undergoing reconstruction and rehabilitation to be restored to its historic state. After the renovation, it will become a visitor’s center. Tour guide is Lisa Josker, Pima County’s facilities management director.
