BENEDICTINE MONASTERY/DEVELOPMENT UPDATE: Tucson City Councilman Steve Kozachik discusses the council’s plans to get the Benedictine Monastery designated a historic landmark, which would protect it from demolition. Meanwhile, the monastery’s new owner hosts a community meeting to unveil a revised plan for the property. SOLAR WATER PANELS: Vanessa Barchfield reports on an Arizona-based company’s efforts to use solar technology to produce potable water from vapor in the air. The solar-panel devices can even produce a few liters per day in Arizona’s arid climate. KIDS COUNT REPORT: The latest Kids Count report ranks children’s well-being in Arizona 45th out of all 50 states. It bases rankings based on data about education, health, poverty and family factors. Michelle Crow with the Children’s Action Alliance in Arizona explains more about the report’s findings that nearly a quarter of children in the state live in poverty.
