PBS News Weekend

Season 10, Episode 3 of 99

In Bosnia and Herzegovina, an estimated 12 to 50 thousand mainly Muslim women were systematically raped as part of the genocide and ethnic cleansing during the three-year war in the 1990s. Now, the children born as a result of those rapes are emerging to campaign for support and understanding. NewsHour Weekend Special Correspondent Malcolm Brabant was one of the first correspondents to report on the use of rape as a weapon of war in the country. Now he's back in Sarajevo to meet some of the people whose lives were scarred by that sexual violence.
