Nick Lowe has become a noted figure in UK pub rock, power pop, and new wave best known for his songs "Cruel to Be Kind" and "I Love the Sound of Breaking Glass." He is a singer-songwriter, musician, and producer and has worked with the likes of Elvis Costello, Graham Parker, and Johnny Cash. Covers of Lowe's songs "(What's So Funny 'Bout) Peace, Love, and Understanding" (Elvis Costello), "I Knew the Bride (When She Used to Rock 'n' Roll)" (Dave Edmunds), and "The Beast in Me" (Johnny Cash) went on to become hits.
