Road Trip to the Arts: The Florida Keys

Marathon In The Middle Keys

Season 1, Episode 3 of 4

Join host Brie Gabrielle takes us to an art festival, an eclectic theater space, and an unforgettable dance studio. For over 20 years, artists from both the Florida Keys and around the country have gathered alongside neighborhood entertainers and food vendors to enjoy the Pigeon Key Art Festival at Marathon Community Park. The Marathon Community Theatre recently put on "Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike," winner of the 2013 Tony for Best Play. Join us as we learn more about this unique and complicated family story as well as the community behind this theater troupe. In addition to putting on stellar theatrical productions, the Marathon Community Theatre also hosts a gallery space, which is one of the only exhibition spaces of its kind in the Middle Keys. Since 2003 Theo Derleth and Ganine Giorgione Derleth have been running their namesake dance studio in Marathon and providing the Florida Keys with a refuge for rhythm, learning, community, and so much more.
