Season 10, Episode 39 of 99

Could a new development in Florida be the first solar-powered community? Florida's Babcock Ranch, located about 15 miles north of Ft. Meyers, is being called the first solar-powered town, and has been billed as a new suburban model for sustainable development. More than 300,000 solar panels have been built with the hopes of developing thousands of homes powered by the sun for a community that could eventually reach 50,000 residents. Developers say they are attempting to rethink what housing and commercial development should look like. NewsHour Weekend's Hari Sreenivasan reports.
