First Responders Train for Heat – With summer’s arrival, Arizona 360 checks in with Tucson Fire Dept. and the Pima County Sheriff’s Dept. about how their first responders train for heat-related calls and keep themselves safe while operating in triple-digit temperatures. Climate-Related Policy – Michele Manos once consulted the Pima County Health Department about the impacts of rising temperatures on public health. She joins Lorraine Rivera to discuss her findings and how local government can improve how it protects the community from the heat. Air Pollution – Rising temperatures can also have an effect on air quality. Eric Betterton, who heads the University of Arizona Department of Hydrology and Atmospheric Sciences, discusses air forecasting trends during the summer months.
