Salton Sea, Farmers Challenge Climate Change, Fore

Season 9, Episode 4 of 5

The Salton Sea is California's largest lake, but it's disappearing fast as farmers conserve water and shut down the runoff that has fed the lake. A project in Iowa shows how farmers can become leaders in the fight against climate change by adopting practices that sequester carbon in their fields, practices that could be supported with compensation from the federal government. Landowners in Pennsylvania are managing their forests for diversity, providing better habitat for declining species of songbirds like the golden-winged warbler.
