Every five minutes, someone dies from a poisonous snakebite and another four people suffer permanent disabilities. The World Health Organization (WHO) has set a target of reducing in half the number of deaths due to snakebites by 2030. Nigeria has the highest number of snakebite deaths in Africa, affecting thousands of people in the country.
