Ray Suarez will report on Shanghai's World Expo. This is the first time that a developing country has hosted the World Expo, and China has great aspirations of using this event to establish itself as a true global power. Four billion dollars have been spent to produce the Shanghai World Expo, and more than fifty billion dollars have been spent to improve the city's infrastructure in anticipation of the expo. China is not alone in its investment China's trading partners have built elaborate pavilions for the World Expo to boost their image and reputation in China.
