The program pays low-income students and their parents for everything from good attendance and good grades to regular visits to doctors and dentists. Anchor Ray Suarez interviews Linda Gibbs, Deputy Mayor in New York, where Michael Bloomberg is a major backer of the program. The "American Voices" essay is by playwright Katori Hall.
