AZ Illustrated Science follows a young woman coping with trauma and substance abuse, as she undergoes treatment in Tucson's New Directions Center. Followed by a discussion on the lifelong health effects of childhood trauma, and how new findings are helping the scientific community understand, measure and address this impact. Next, a lung transplant surgeon was just added to the University of Arizona Medical Center team, making UAMC one of a handful of medical centers that can handle multiple organ transplants. And, a doctor who researches ways of making organs remain viable and ways of using tissue regeneration to reduce the need for organ transplants.
