Estudio Billboard

Juan Luis Guerra

Season 1, Episode 13 of 13

Juan Luis Guerra admits to Leila Cobo that his musical influence comes from his brothers who introduced him to music by The Beatles; his father who used to bring records from the places he traveled to; and his own home. He grew up living next to the Independencia Theater in Santo Domingo where he could listen to every artist that performed there. This big Dominican music star explains that having studied philosophy helped his writing because he was introduced to poetry by Neruda, Borges, García Lorca and Vallejo. The Estudio Billboard audience had the chance to listen to some of his greatest hits, such as “Bachata rosa”, “Ojalá que llueva café” and ”Las Avispas”.
