Roger tours the Italianate Garden at Elm Bank; Norm and Tom perform surgery to re-open a door in the foyer. In the second half of the hour, on ASK THIS OLD HOUSE, Richard visits Charlotte, North Carolina, to install a whole-house humidifier. Kevin and electrician Scott Caron install hardwired smoke and carbon monoxide detectors for a young family in Indianapolis. Tom shows how to remove stripped screws. And the guys ask, "What is it?"
