Jordan's Syrian Refugees - According to a new United Nations report, the number of refugees worldwide is nearly 50 million, the highest number since World War Two. Syrians are the largest single refugee group. More than 9 million Syrians have been displaced by the conflict, which began in 2011. That's more than 40 percent of the pre-war population. Many of those refugees have ended up in neighboring Jordan. Earlier this year, managing editor Kim Lawton traveled to Jordan to report on the plight of the Syrian refugees and how faith-based groups are trying to help. The December Project - For two years, every Friday, Rabbi Zalman Schachter-Shalomi, a founder of the Jewish Renewal Movement, talked with writer Sara Davidson, a secular skeptic, about spirituality and preparing to die. Davidson chronicled those conversations in a book called The December Project. Schachter-Shalomi died on July 3rd at the age of 89. Just a few months before that, Bob Faw had spoken with both Davidson and Schacthter-Shalomi about wisdom and accepting death.
