Predict My Future: The Science of Us

Meet a group of 1,037 New Zealanders born in one city who are the most scientifically studied people in the world. As part of a research effort known as the Dunedin Study, these individuals have been followed since their births between 1972 and 1973. While members are now dispersed around the globe - about one-third still reside in Dunedin - 96% of the original group are still taking part. It is an extraordinary achievement in such long running research. PREDICT MY FUTURE: THE SCIENCE OF US follows the fascinating study, a herculean effort to see what makes us all who we are. It has yielded information in almost every field of medical and social development, including respiratory and cardiovascular health, addictions, obesity, sexual health, cognitive neuroscience, psychiatry, genetics and criminology and, most interestingly, the effects of nature and nurture on health and behavior. Among those interviewed: Professor Terrie Moffit, Duke University; Professor Edward M. Arnett, Duke University; Professor Sir Michael Rutter, Kings College, London; Emeritus Professor James Fallon, School of Medicine, University of California, Irvine; Professor Jay Belsky, University of London and University of California, Davis; Professor James Heckman, Nobel Prize Laureate, University of Chicago; and, Dr. Amanda Dettmer-Erard, U. S. National Institutes of Health, Maryland.
