Rillito River Park

The Rillito River Park in Tucson is part of a proposed 131-mile connected loop that will encircle the metropolitan area, allowing users to travel by foot, horse, bicycle or other non-motorized methods in the community without dealing with cars or other vehicular traffic. The park was born in the 1980s when Pima County experienced severe floods that swept away many acres of land and private property along the river. Officials decided to construct a flood control project, and the park became a part of the bigger plan. Infrastructures such as this one are becoming more popular across the country, providing additional recreational opportunities for local residents and visitors.
