If you had to map the lineage of Tucson's music scene, many roads would lead you back more than two decades to Rainer Ptacek. Born in Eastern Germany in the grips of the Cold War, Rainer and his family emigrated to Chicago in 1956. It was there that he first heard the blues - a musical sound that influenced his entire career. Rainer died 21 years ago, but his legacy lives on in Tucson's music and beyond.
