ADHD, or attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder, has never been more widely diagnosed or widely discussed than it is today. About 1 in 10 children in the U.S. – more than 6 million nationwide—are diagnosed with the disorder by age 17, according to data from the Centers for Disease Control. But stigma and skepticism about the condition persist. And for children with ADHD who grow up and continue to live with its symptoms, navigating adult life in the face of that stigma and skepticism can bring unique challenges.
