Republican Gov. Doug Ducey had a 27 percent approval rating in a poll released Monday by a firm that does surveys for Democrats.
The Public Policy Polling survey of 600 registered voters done May 1 through 3 showed 44 percent disapproved of his performance and 49 percent were unsure four months into his first term as governor.
Among Republicans, Ducey had a 49 percent approval rating. Democrats and independents approved at a 13 percent rate.
One reason for Ducey's rating may be explained in another finding: 63 percent of voters surveyed said they disapprove of the governor's and Legislature's cuts to education. Twenty-four percent approved.
The same survey showed among Arizona voters, President Barack Obama had 41 percent approval and 53 percent disapproval. National polling on Obama's performance ranged from 44 percent to 47 percent approval in surveys done since May 1.
