A wildfire burning in brush and grassland north of Sonoita was 50 percent contained and not expected to spread much further, the federal Incident Information System website reported Friday.
The morning update said the Oak Tree Fire was at 2,023 acres and "Growth potential is currently low."
The fire started Wednesday east of State Highway 83 apparently from a vehicle fire. No structures were threatened and the highway between Sonoita and Interstate 10 east of Tucson remained open.
Nearly 200 firefighters were working the fire's perimeter, and aerial retardant drops were used Thursday, the report said.
The blaze burned mostly on Coronado National Forest land, while also scorching about 300 acres of state land.
