A sign for the Community Foundation for Southern Arizona.The Community Foundation for Southern Arizona is launching a grant program to support local nonprofits with CORE grants worth up to $30,000 each.
"It’s to support their programs, their staff, expenses like salaries, or any other administrative costs," said the foundation's Kelly Huber. "The program is really targeted to help that general day-to-day operation of a nonprofit."
The aim is to give nonprofits some financial flexibility that helps them innovate and take risks, she said.
"We want them to also take care of their staff and volunteers. And sometimes in nonprofits, we don’t have that extra capital to do those kinds of things. So we’re hoping we can support these high-impact nonprofits in supporting themselves."
The community foundation is accepting applications now through the May 1. Huber could not say how many grants will be given out, but winning nonprofits will be notified at the end of August.
