Barrios & Barriers: The Tucson Civil Rights Era

This Arizona Public Media documentary recounts Tucson’s civil rights movement through a collection of personal experiences.

The Arizona Public Media documentary Barrios & Barriers: The Tucson Civil Rights Era, is a collection of personal experiences and triumphs about Tucson’s civil rights struggle during the mid-twentieth century.

The Tucson civil rights movement challenged injustices that had deep social, economic and political origins. This half-hour documentary tells stories of discrimination, segregation, racism, and in the end… of victories, drawn from the personal lives of some Tucson residents.

This new documentary will premiere on Monday, May 9th at 9 p.m. on PBS-HD.
